What the Vivienda Vacacional licence is
It is the official permit to rent an entire home to tourists for short stays. Without it, letting is illegal and carries heavy fines, and platforms like Booking and Airbnb increasingly require the registration number when you publish a listing.
Key requirements
The property must hold a certificate of habitability (cédula de habitabilidad), meet equipment and safety standards, and not be barred from letting by the community's rules. You must also register the activity and pay tourist tax and income tax in Spain.
